Depending on the security aspect and network conditions OSGD can work with one or more network interfaces. The logical name of the server is thereby not of essence; more important is the name under which the OSGD systems are accessible from the perspective of the clients. Since the communication protocol is HTTPS, a SSL certificate is also required. These can be either single-named as well as multi-named certificates.

It has to be ensured in the course of the integration that the OSGD systems are provided with a NTP service. The correct name resolution, including reverse mapping of the OSGD Server is essential.

After a standard installation, the client communicates with OSGD over port 80 and the AIP protocol is executed over port 3144. This configuration is not recommended for production use, since the username and password are passed on through the network unencrypted.
